I Traveled with Wildrift Adventures Once. Their New Retreat Is Something I'd Recommend Without Hesitation.
A few months ago, I joined one of Wildrift Adventures’ trips, hoping for a short escape into the mountains. What I came back with was much more than beautiful photographs. It was a reminder of how restorative it can be to spend time in nature without constantly checking the time, chasing itineraries, or worrying about the next destination.
What struck me most about Wildrift wasn’t just the locations they chose — it was the pace. There was enough room to breathe, to observe, and to simply enjoy being outdoors. It felt less like a commercial tour and more like being invited into a place that someone genuinely cared about.
So when I recently saw that they were launching The Peace of Wild Things at Camp Purple, Mukteshwar, I wasn’t surprised. It feels like a natural extension of everything I experienced with them.
Inspired by Wendell Berry’s poem of the same name, this five-day retreat isn’t about ticking off tourist attractions. It’s about slowing down and reconnecting with yourself through nature. The itinerary includes forest walks, birdwatching, watercolor sessions, poetry, nature journaling, conversations with local villagers, stargazing, and quiet moments that many of us rarely allow ourselves.
What I like most is that there’s no expectation to be an artist, writer, or birder. The retreat is about curiosity, not expertise. Whether you’re sketching beside a mountain waterfall, writing a few lines after watching the sunset, or simply listening to birds in the forest, the experience is designed to help you notice the little things we often miss in everyday life.
Camp Purple in Mukteshwar seems like the perfect setting for this. Surrounded by forests and mountain views, it offers the kind of peaceful environment where slowing down doesn’t feel like an effort — it just happens naturally.
If my previous experience with Wildrift Adventures is anything to go by, this retreat will be thoughtfully curated, unhurried, and deeply connected to the place and its people. That’s increasingly rare in a world where travel often feels rushed and transactional.
If you’ve been looking for something different from the usual weekend getaway — something creative, mindful, and genuinely refreshing — I think The Peace of Wild Things at Camp Purple, Mukteshwar is worth considering.
Sometimes the best trips don’t leave you with a packed itinerary. They leave you with a quieter mind. And that’s exactly what I expect this retreat will offer.
